Teach in schools located in fishing towns

Located in the coastal province of Manabí, 4 to 5 hours bus ride north of Guayaquil and 10 hours from Quito, our teaching programmes in coastal Ecuador are located around two beautiful fishing towns.

Teach in Manabi - Coastal Ecuador

These schools receive very little funding and therefore there are few resources and English is barely taught. Local teachers have limited knowledge of English and the help of volunteers is invaluable. This is especially critical as the area relies extensively on tourism, being the door to the “isla de la plata” known as the poor man's Galapagos, just off the coast.

Your role: Teach in Manabi - Coastal Ecuador

Volunteers provide support to local teachers, help raise the level of English in the villages as well as developing sports offered to kids. Contributing to a relatively poor community is very satisfying, and you will gain enormously by appreciating the simplicity of life and values of the people. As you will be immersed in the community, your knowledge of Spanish will of course improve dramatically in a very short time. There is no better way to learn a language while helping others. Volunteers can also help with other subjects such as art and IT, and previous volunteers have organised after school sports clubs.

What you gain: It is an opportunity for you to use your skills and imagination to design innovative ways of teaching and communicating with the children. The coastal fishing towns of Ecuador are also a very popular destination for travelling and exploring all that Ecuador has to offer.
