LEY – PHYANG – ALCHI – LAMAYRU - LEY
Ladakh is both an enchanting and challenging destination. Discover fascinating Himalayan villages on your gap year travel; experience the traditional farming and monastic lifestyle. Gain an insight into the spiritual aspect of this region, often known as little Tibet, visiting ancient monasteries where time seems to have stood still. Go rafting on the Indus River and trek deep into the mountains through remote villages and cross high mountain passes for an amazing gap year experience.
Is this journey right for me?
Ladakh is at high altitude – Leh is 3505m. You will need to take things slowly and allow your body to acclimatise for a couple of days. Ladakh is a unique area still largely undiscovered by gap year travellers and other tourists and makes a fascinating gap year travel experience of mountains and culture. The optional trek is easy with a few steep ascents, walking of about 5 hours per day, and should be suitable for anyone of good health and who is generally fit.
