Day 2/3 - Chitwan National Park
During your jungle safari you will try a range of activities to experience the area.
Elephant safari
Take an elephant back ride for a unique view of the wildlife here. You can hope to spot the one-horned rhino, bison, wild boar, monkeys and prolific birdlife. If luck is with you, you may even spot the illusive Bengal tiger, there are around 80 in the park, but they are rarely sighted.
Jeep Safari
Travel by open jeep either inside the national park in season OR to Twenty Thousand Lakes out of season.
Canoe Ride
Canoeing on the Rapti River gives you a chance to see "mugger" crocodiles and the long-nosed "gharial" crocodiles. As you glide quietly you have a good chance to spot water birds including the kingfisher.
Nature Walks
A naturalist guide travel will walk alongside you to make sure you know what you are seeing and have chance to learn about the wildlife and ecosystem here.
Elephant Centre
Visit the Elephant Breeding Centre for a close up view of these huge beasts.
Ox cart ride and village visit
You will also experience an ox cart ride to a ‘Tharu’ village; this is an age old method of transportation. You will be able to do some bird-watching on the periphery of the national and see a traditional music and dance show by the Tharu people.
There is much activity to keep you busy but a long lunchtime is set aside to enjoy the food and the ambience of the lodge.
Overnight: Royal Park Hotel.
