Gap Year Insurance

GapGuru recognises the importance of thorough and comprehensive travel insurance and requires all our gap year programme participants to take out appropriate cover for their gap year. You should be insured for all the activities you may undertake during your gap year travel and we strongly suggest that you consider cover for each of the trips you will undertake. Your policy must include aero medical evacuation to your home country in the unlikely event that this is necessary. Also, check that there is a 24/7 telephone worldwide service, which will provide immediate assistance in case of need during your gap year.

With this in mind, we have partnered with Endsleigh Insurance Services (part of the Zurich Group) we can offer a policy, which we believe will provide adequate cover for working or volunteering abroad on your gap year.

We must reiterate that if you do not take out cover with Endsleigh Insurance Services, we will need the following:

• the name of the insurance company
• the policy number
• the type of cover
• the cover period
• the 24 hour emergency telephone number
• the evidence that all you activities will be covered

Gap Year

This policy has been specially designed for those who are about to undertake a gap year, and will provide cover from 1 day through to a year.

• Three policy options to choose from depending on your type of gap year trip; adventure, work abroad or volunteering.
• Specialist cover options available such as winter sports, sports & adventure, baggage and specific electrical items.
• 24 hour worldwide English speaking emergency medical claim line.

This cover is designed to take care of all the activities on a typical gap year programme with GapGuru, so whether you are teaching children, working in an orphanage, volunteering with community project or backpacking on your gap year travels..... It also is suitable for all the countries our gap year programmes are based: India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Tanzania, Chile, Ecuador and Romania.
