Helen Dewey: Gap Year Images I was dropped off at the offices like it was my first day of school. Mandira and Simon even came with me to see the Editor-in-Chief. He was rather complacent about my coming to work for his newspaper, and cheerfully described interns as 'cheap labour'. Good to know that journalism in India is similar to that in England!

My homestay host is Nandita Sreedevan, a yoga instructor who leads a very healthy lifestyle which is to my benefit as she does not believe that very spicy food are good for you (phew!) So my meals are delicious, full of tasty things I have never had before such as banana flowers and stems.
