What would I actually be doing in a project ?
You could be doing a variety of things depending upon the volunteer project you have chosen to join. These could range from working with children, teaching english, sports, or music, helping with the administration of the projects or anything else that you could do to contribute to the cause that the project supports.
Can I extend my stay at a project while on the placement ?
Extending your stay at a project will depend upon a number of things including the length of your visa, requirements at the project for your time as well as availability of accommodation in the local area. It's always better to have planned in advance as to how much time you would like to spend, if however you feel that you are enjoying the work and would like to stay on do get in touch with either our local representative or Program Coordinator in the UK and we shall endeavor to make the necessary arrangements.
What is my work commitment to the project ?
At each volunteer project the project manager will normally discuss with you and set out the work commitments that you would be required to fulfil. The idea with voluntary projects is very much about trying to do the best you can for that cause that you have selected with whatever skills you may bring.
How are the projects selected ?
We are very careful with our volunteer project selection always trying to look for worthy causes and project teams where your inputs would add value. We have designed a selection criteria to assess all projects that we include in our gap year programs and monitor all gap year projects on an ongoing basis.
