Teach At Schools For Slum Children
Help provide education to children from some of Bangalore's most deprived Families.
On your
gap year abroad
, teach English, Maths and other subjects and activities such as sports, art or music in schools that are run especially for some of Bangalore's poorest children. Schools are open, spacious and provide a bustling yet peaceful haven for the children. A far cry from their often difficult and disrupted home lives. The school facilities include outdoor play areas, a variety of arts and music equipment, dining rooms and communal halls for gym, assemblies and performances. They aim to give the children the best education and facilities available, as well as food, clothing, medical attention, and invaluable life skills.
Your role:
As a
gap year volunteer
you will work directly with the children providing one-to-one and small group tuition in core academic subjects such as English and Maths, and then pick up with extra curricular activities, projects and events that will maximize your individual talents, interests and flair- and allow you to truly make your mark on the children and school!
As a
gap year teacher
you will have a timetable designed personally for you which will divide your time between your various classes and activities, and provide you with the structure that allows you to make the best possible use of your time.
Gap year volunteers
are encouraged to make the most of their personal strengths and interests towards organizing stimulating, fun and challenging activities for the children to add to the trips, summer camps, and visits that are currently aimed at opening the children's eyes to the wider world and its possibilities.
What you Gain:
This is a fantastic
gap year
opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with children. It is also an incredibly rewarding experience to be able to help provide quality education to some of the city's poorest children.
