The company is looking for confident, well organised interns to be part of their language and communication team and help bridge the cultural and linguistic gap between the Philippines and the UK. Through this paid gap year internship you can help staff deliver superior customer service to UK-based customers, while you gain fantastic work experience at a well-known international company!
Gap year internship role:
Your first week on this internship in the Philippines will be spent being introduced to the organisation and settled into the team. From then on your gap year work will follow UK operational hours, with interns working 9 hour shifts on 5 of the company’s 6 day working week.
Your business internship responsibilities will focus on efforts to encourage cross-cultural understanding and reduce the cultural gap between UK customers and the Manila-based team. Your tasks could include monitoring and supporting Filipino colleagues during customer interactions by phone and email, or conducting training programmes on UK language and culture. Gap travel interns may also be asked to engage with UK clients directly and produce progress reports on their work. At all points you will need to communicate in a lively and informative way, putting things into a context that your Filipino colleagues will easily understand.
Your gap year experience:
Throughout your gap year internship you will be paid a stipend of around £840 per month (subject to tax). Interns will also be offered a £1000 incentive for successful completion of their placement. This makes it a fantastic opportunity to experience the excitement of living and working in the fabulous Philippines, while doing something that is both affordable and beneficial to your career. Gap travel interns should be confident, organised, adaptable and computer literate. While working on the other side of the world might sound a little daunting, you will be supported by a line manager throughout this paid gap year internship and will ‘buddy up’ with a local colleague who will help you settle in and make the most of your placement. Living just a few kilometres from the city centre, interns will be perfectly placed to explore Manila itself or travel further to any of the Philippines’ magnificent beaches or national parks.
