This is an exciting and innovative gap year project that provides an education to children who can't get to school - by taking the "school" to them! It helps educate some of
Pune's most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, who normally live on the streets or in slum areas or are the children of construction workers living in makeshift camps close to construction sites.
Your Role: Gap year volunteers help teach English, Arts and Crafts or any other subjects that fascinate them and are likely to inspire the children. You'll be able to bring new ideas to the project, which welcomes innovation, and is always on the lookout for new ways of motivating the children.
What you Gain: You'll improve your own teaching and communication skills while gaining tremendous satisfaction from knowing that your contribution made a difference to the lives - and hopefully the future - of children who would otherwise be trapped in the environment which they were born in. You'll get to know the children and their families and end up with some memorable experiences that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
