About the Organisation: The foundation is based in Delhi. It comprises of a group of professionals, consultants and volunteers from a variety of fields including social work, management, media and science. The various projects bring the issues of empowerment, environmental conservation and social consciousness under one umbrella.
They believe that those who precipitate positive social change must emerge from within the very society that is to be changed. They, therefore, provide people with support, guidance and a platform with an ultimate aim to make them realize their potential of being socially and environmentally responsible individuals.
Who they are: The foundation was launched in the year 2000 as the clean-up campaign for the river Yamuna. They started with the realization of the pitiable state of the river Yamuna, the 'lifeline' of Delhi that catered to almost all the water needs of the city but remained forgotten, ignored and unattended by the masses. Within months of it, they were able to mobilize more than 500 volunteers who shaped up as one of the strongest voices on Yamuna in Delhi growing eventually into a full-fledged NGO.
What you can do: Raising awareness and distributing and planting trees. Your time with this project will see you joining other volunteers to distribute saplings in various schools across Delhi as well as in the many corporate houses in the city. Presentations form an important part of their work and you will be assisting in the creation and execution of these important awareness campaigns. You be encouraged to think creatively and help them make the general public more aware of their surroundings.
