About Organisation: The foundation of the Club dates back to 1984. It started with 7-8 people getting together informally with numbers quickly rising to 25-30 within 2 months. The activity, which was started for fun and relaxation, soon turned into a regular and main feature. As the numbers grew, the game, once occupying just a corner of the local sports ground, assumed larger proportions and occupied the entire ground.
The Club: Open any newspaper during the football season and chances are that you will read about the club on the sports page. Words like winners, victorious, triumphant, champions, heroes are used in abundance. They exemplify the spirit of a team that always emerges jubilant. That is the prestige associated with being the topmost team in the district.
From reaching the finals of prestigious tournaments like Kesari Trophy to winning the Abhijit Kadam Memorial Football Cup, the team has built up an impressive repertoire of victories. With every passing year, the name of the club emerges at the acme of football. As the club says - who knows, someday, they might even produce a Beckham!
It is important to note that the Club has few resources and practices on a local earth based sports ground. There are no premises attached to the club to enable changing or showering, but this does not stop over 100 people, mainly children aged between 6 and 18, turning up 6 days a week to train.
Accommodation: Wherever possible you will stay in an Indian home or share an apartment with other Gap year volunteers. Home-stay hosts are carefully selected for quality and safety and you would normally share a non-air conditioned room.
