About the Organisation: This is a state of the art hospital that opened just over a year ago and although it's a private hospital it focuses on social equality. It's run by a team of leading doctors who not only work selflessly to help the poor and infirm, but are also committed to training young people and raising the standards of the medical profession.
Who they are: They're a highly qualified dedicated team of doctors who have a clear sense of social responsibility and of " giving something back." Their mission statement includes a commitment to "transparency, respect and compassion towards patients and their families to foster reconciliation and recuperation."
What they do: Hospital specialties include neurology, haematology, cardiac care and surgery, orthopaedics and joint replacement, paediatrics, diabetes, hand and foot surgery.
Other departments include hypertensive clinics, nephrology, urology, trauma, cosmetology, internal medicine and medical genetics. The hospital also emphasises research in the ongoing pursuit of "cutting edge medical expertise."
What you can do: Volunteers will be expected to be in the hospital 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. If you're a pre training intern you will be able to develop your skills in communication and pastoral care, reception and observation of procedures.
Graduate interns will rotate in clinical departments - neurology/neurosurgery, paediatrics and paediatric neurology, emergency and critical care medicine, haematology and bone marrow transplant, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery.
