About the Organisation: This private dental practice has been operating for over 10 years and has had over 15,000 clients not just from around India but also from Europe, USA, UK, Australia and the Middle East even boasting several famous names amongst their previous patients. The main reason so many people come from abroad is the affordable cost of the treatments, often 5 to 10 times less than the equivalent in the UK. This makes dental tourism a potentially large market for the practice as people can combine their dental treatments with a vacation in the beautiful state of Kerala and still save money on the cost of the same treatments at home.
In order to attract their clients the practice offers international standard dental treatments in an extremely hygienic and modern environment with the partners ensuring ongoing training for their dentists in the most up to date techniques.
How it began: The clinic was started in 1995 with a view to becoming a centre of excellence for all aspects of dentistry. The highest standards have been adhered to which ensures that the practice has international standards of cleanliness and indeed is more modern than many western dentists.
The dental practice now: The clinic is now a multi speciality centre for dentistry with an aesthetic dentist, a prosthodontist, periodontist, implantologist, endodontist, orthodontist and an oral & maxillo facial surgeon. These specialisms allow for both elective and cosmetic surgery to be undertaken.
Having gained ISO 9001-2000 quality standard certification they have to comply with the stringent standards needed to maintain the award.
As part of their corporate social responsibility the clinic does community work in the area. This can take the form of donating toothbrushes, toothpaste, or medication to poor schools and also conduct dental check-ups at schools where there are children who would normally not be able to afford a dentist.
What you’ll be doing: This will depend on your area of interest and any qualifications or experience already gained. If you are preparing to go to a School of Dentistry in the UK then a schedule of observation will be drawn up for you to ensure you gain knowledge and experience of every aspect of the practice. There will also be opportunities to visit other hospitals that the clinic undertakes consultations for.
If you are part or fully qualified you will be able to assist with the different disciplines at the practice dependant on your areas of interest.
