What they do: The organisation helps children and young adults, but that also means educating the people among whom they live, so it's active in
research and training for community and social workers and special needs teachers. It has a special education centre teaching everything from basic living
skills to the school curriculum and includes hydro and other therapies. It also advises other NGO's and provides innovative training programs for grassroots
workers, parents and persons with disability.
The project has been involved for many years in the development of alternative means for CP children to communicate and
has been training them in computers. It devises different individualized programs for everyone from small infants to young adults, if needed.
What you can do: Whether you're interested in the technological side, such as devising computer aids to improve the quality of life, or in close
contact with teaching and helping the children, you'll be able to make a really satisfying and positive difference to their lives on this placement. You'll learn first
hand about the condition, about the human spirit, about communication, therapies and teaching special needs children, which could help with your chosen university
course as well as lead to a fulfilling lifetime career.
