How It Started : Started by a group of people who saw the overwhelming need for a safe haven for abandoned children their vision was to find permanent or foster care for the homeless as every child deserves a permanent home of its own. The Trust works on the basic principle "Do only what is best for the child". They wish to be recognized by society as an honest team deeply committed to the welfare of the child, unborn or born.
The Organisation Today: The growth and improvement of this organization is impressive. They have moved steadily from very small, poor accommodation to now being housed in a brand new building part funded by an international charity and part funded by Give India. They have placed over 760 children in loving homes either in India or abroad. The majority of the children, around 70%, are found foster families within a 3km radius of the orphanage so they can have the benefit of being within a family unit. They then attend the orphanage during the day for lessons and health care. Babies and infants as well as any children for whom foster families cannot be found live in the orphanage. The Trust is registered with the state government as one of 15 recognized centres for abandoned children to be taken, the majority of whom are girls. This is a disturbing trend in India as in some places girl children are not wanted or
welcomed into the family. The trust does a lot of work on educating the community in relation to this. Their dedication in this field has been recognized by the Department of Women and Child Development and the Central Adoption Resource Agency, both departments in the Ministry of Welfare of the Government of India which are licensing agencies for in-country and inter-country adoption respectively.
