The Wedding was definitely an event designed for the girls in the group…but having
been surrounded by the others for 3 weeks now I went along to the wedding as well.
Hopefully I’ll have some photos up because it’s hard to convey all the colors and
ornaments that were in the wedding centre. It was incredibly beautiful. After travelling
an hour out of
Bangalore
we finally arrived at the Tamarind Tree wedding centre.
Everyone was dressed in incredible saris and Kurtas (slightly less cumbersome clothes…that’s
what we went for) and the whole centre was decorated with jasmine and birds made
out of plants.

The ceremony itself was hard to appreciate without actually being the bride or groom
as they were surrounded by about 30 people as it took place. The wedding was between
a Christian and a Hindu person from Kerala and
Bangalore
so had many influences
on it, but primarily it was an Indian wedding. Fortunately for us a rich Indian
wedding as we saw Bollywood actors, dancers and a huuuge buffet lunch. For me this
was the highlight by far…I haven’t recovered yet. They just kept on bringing food
and I just kept eating food. I ate everything from the dal pudding to the chillies…except
for one dish
(the last one). By the end the people who were serving had noticed
my appetite and just focused on me as they went round the tables.
So after about 3 meals later the wedding was over. Although not for the Bride and
Groom. They (after having 2 ceremonies on the 2 previous days) have another 2 ceremonies
this week and one more next week in Kerala. My home stay hosts are going to one
and I am welcome to go…but one feast was enough for a lifetime.
