Today
we started our craft class for the third and fourth years, we went out
and bought card, felt pens, and glitter glue as the school has limited
equipment and not enough for all the kids. Its well worth the money when
you see how much it’s used and enjoyed by all the kids and doesn’t cost
much at all. We started with fourth year – masks! Like Neil from Art
Attack I had already been at home the night before making my mask to
show the children, and Liv had one too so it was great to wow them with
some colourful examples. The masks they made were fantastic, it was so
good getting them to draw as normally we teach English grammar, and
there’s only so many ‘draw what you did last weekend’s’ you can do
before you realize every single child played cricket! They did some
beautiful ones, and concentrated so hard. This is the only school I have
ever been to where the children concentrate so hard, whether you’re
teaching maths, science or making masks out of card, and enjoy learning.
Some made their masks with our names written in colours or glitter
which made me feel all warm and fuzzy, and made me appreciate how much
they enjoy us being there and doing something different.Next week we’ll
be attempting to make maracas out of bottles and rice, but the
classrooms are small and crowded so get ready for some reports of a lot
of mes
