Katrina Pluss: Gap Year Images Ok, so i have been in Bangalore for over a week now and i have already experienced a large slice of Indian culture. I absolutely love this country, it is so completely different from England- it is impossible to explain how unless you can experience it for yourself!

My home stay is lovely and she has made me feel very settled very quickly. She cooks lovely food and plenty of it! Her apartment is lovely, plenty of space and I am looking forward to the other gaper who will be joining me very shortly.

The city itself is very different to how i had imagined. The traffic is chaotic and it has taken me a while to get used to this. The Auto rides are an experience i will never forget. Some of the drivers are really friendly and will always do it by the meter, however others try and rip us off and tell us it will cost 200Rps when in fact it should cost 60P Rps- it is only because we are English!

The school i a teaching at is amazing. The kids are fantastic and you completely forget about eh backgrounds which they come from when you see their positive attitude towards life. They are all very bright and very focused and love to learn. I have observed many classes and made many posters which is very rewarding when you observe lessons when they are being used. The children are very grateful for our company and love to play games in the playground. I have been to a couple of swimming lessons as well as a football tournament which have been fascinating to watch and to see the passion in the sport which they enjoy.

My first weekend in Bangalore was spent in Coorg which was amazing. I went with seven other gappers from GapGuru which was good. We hired a driver and stayed at a home stay which was lovely. Our driver was a little crazy and insisted on going at full speed only slowing down for speed bumps, although this was very sudden breaking sending us all flying in the car! We visited a local waterfall and also visited a temple. On our journey on the way we saw wild India elephants grazing by the side of the road which was amazing to see. I have many trips i would like to do at the weekend, i just have to find the time to do it as time is going to quickly while i am here.

I have had many exciting experiences already and am going to have many more to come which i look forward to sharing with you.....
